| The Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard has been established to assure that all EMS providers will have an opportunity to be represented in the unfortunate case of a line-of-duty death. We are also available for EMS related events upon request. Although we take great steps in assuring our personal safety, many EMS providers fall victim to unfortunate circumstances which causes injury or even death. Until the spring of 2006, the state of Wisconsin had nothing in place to represent EMS providers for their unselfish dedication to the health and welfare of the people in the communities we serve. As we are all aware, police and fire have respected long standing traditions of honoring their own and now "all" EMS providers have the same opportunities for recognition. In time, we will develop the same respected traditions that will help preserve the memories of our fallen Heroes in EMS. The Wisconsin EMS Honor Guard is now available to represent and honor all EMS providers throughout the state in case of a death within our EMS Family. We are also available upon request to perform color guard duties at EMS venues, meetings, etc. Our mission is not only to honor our fallen brethren, but to also promote the core values of EMS in Wisconsin and across the United States. Our Honor Guard is currently in the building process with a fully active Post located in the Fox Valley Area. We are adding members from across Wisconsin and have other location in Wisconsin who are currently in the process of forming their own branches of the WI EMS HG. If anyone is interested in joining the Honor Guard, please call or e-mail us for more information. We are interested in adding members as well as helping form new posts across Wisconsin. All members of EMS are welcome to become members of the Honor Guard. From First Responders to Paramedics, Municipal and Private, we are all important links in the chain of survival that come together as one unit to form what we know as emergency medical services. We believe we are all entitled to be honored and recognised by our peers, family, and communities for our service. |
